“…These challenges contribute to the nursing shortage in Iran, exacerbated by factors such as low employment rates, job turnover due to burnout (Rangriz and Moosavi, 2014), gender-related job reluctance, an aging workforce (Shamsi and Peyravi, 2020), highstress environments (Fox and Abrahamson, 2009), contractual employment (Soudagar et al, 2014), and waning interest in the profession (Atashzadeh et al, 2014). Additionally, nurse shortages are influenced by factors like nurse emigration, shifts to non-clinical roles, job abandonment, burnout (Kalateh Sadati et al, 2021), low wages, the opening of new healthcare facilities, medical advancements, a growing elderly population, societal perceptions, and long working hours (Shamsi and Peyravi, 2020) Nurses in Iran also face challenges related to limited political influence and lack of participation in key organizational and national health policies (Jabbari et al, 2022).
