“…Additionally, it is important to note that there was a tendency for significant MAP and HR recovery in the activity scene, indicating that adding activity-based elements could effectively promote the physiological restoration of the residential public space. The restorative effects induced by the activity scene on the blood pressure and heart rate seemed to confirm the outcomes of a previous study, suggesting that well-designed residential environments incorporating fitness facilities and furniture could be perceived by older people as a potential physical activity possibility and, consequently, generate a restorative experience [42].…”

“…This result was consistent with other studies (48,62,64,65). However, Fu et al (66) suggested that courtyard space landscape has boosted slightly better in men emotions than in women, and people over the age of 30 experienced better mood benefits. The reason for these inconsistent results may be that these studies are based on different national backgrounds and use different age groups, survey methods and different research materials.…”

“…This section recorded the respondents' characteristics, including gender, age, and duration as well as frequency of visits to the surveyed environment. Based on the age classification methods of two studies on green space emotions in China (65,66) and WHO (93), we divided the respondents into three age groups: (1) young people (25 years old or younger), (2) middle-aged people (26-50 years old), and (3) older adults (51 years of age and older). The physical factors evaluations were also evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale, ranging from one (Very dissatisfied) to five (Very satisfied), including thermal sensation satisfaction (TSS), sound quality satisfaction (SQS), and air quality satisfaction (AQS).…”

“…For example, the role of vegetation [30] has been investigated, demonstrating that green configurations promote sensorial journeys and create spaces where individuals can rejuvenate. In residential courtyard spaces, green vegetation was found to have more positive emotional impacts compared to fitness facilities [31]. Water's role in ambiance has also been explored, highlighting the connection between place memory, emotion, and architecture [32].…”
