Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the viral replication cycle, focusing on DNA and RNA viruses. The chapter begins with an introduction to viruses, their classification into DNA and RNA viruses, and their general characteristics. The process of DNA replication by viruses is then explained, including the different stages involved in this process and the specific mechanisms used by different types of DNA viruses. Similarly, the replication process of RNA viruses is discussed, with a focus on the various strategies employed by these viruses to replicate their genome.
