“…The presented findings are in line with previous work regarding irrational beliefs and CVD incidence (Vassou, Chrysohoou, et al, 2022; Vassou, Georgousopoulou, et al, 2022), yet adding the specific dimensions of irrational beliefs (i.e., those constitute the cognitive vulnerability to anxiety factor) further increases the risk for CVDs (almost three times higher CVD risk versus one time higher risk for those with high levels of irrational beliefs, than in our previous work; Vassou, Georgousopoulou, et al, 2022). Also, our work furthers the research into this topic through detecting and introducing the mediating effect of negative physical well‐being for the first time.…”

“…Sympathetic dysregulation and long‐term glial dysfunction may result in reduced heart rate variability and vagal tone and increased future inflammatory allostatic load, such as C‐reactive protein (CRP), interleukin‐6 (IL‐6), and fibrinogen (McEwen & Gianaros, 2011; Sild et al, 2017; Zainal & Newman, 2022). Indeed, there was also evidence from previous work that anxiety and depression moderated the relationship between irrational beliefs and CVD risk, while dietary habits away from the Mediterranean diet, as well as inflammatory and oxidative stress markers (including tumor necrosis factor [TNF‐α], CRP, fibrinogen, and total antioxidant capacity), mediated the aforementioned tested associations (Vassou, Chrysohoou, et al, 2022; Vassou, Georgousopoulou, et al, 2022). However, more studies are needed to support the above suggestions and findings.…”

“…Nutrition plays a crucial role in cardiovascular health [ 3 , 4 ]. More and more studies have begun to explore the early risk factors and potential beneficial factors affecting the incidence of CHD from people’s daily living behaviors and diets [ 5 8 ]. Numerous studies have indicated that fish, fiber, protein, and nutrients are associated with CHD and can either reduce or raise the risk [ 9 11 ].…”
