Smart farming in various worlds is not just about applying technology in terms of storing data on agricultural land. However, having a concept of measurable data based on available computational techniques trained and then generating knowledge. As an application, the agri drone sprayer can be used for the process of applying pesticides and liquid fertilizers on each side. In addition, drone surveillance is also useful in implementing smart farming such as mapping land so that farmers will know the condition of their agricultural land. However, the soil and weather sensor will also help the farmers to monitor the farmland as well. Devices with sensors can only obtain data in the form of air and soil humidity, temperature, soil pH, water content and forecasting the harvest period. So that the smart farming model can help farmers to get recommendations, in preventing the predicted damage to their land and crops. However, according to its geographical location, the application of smart farming can be a smart solution to agricultural problems in Indonesia and make the future of Indonesian Agriculture a technology-based smart agriculture.

Agricultural systems in the EU have become more vulnerable and less sustainable due to an overreliance on herbicides and the tremendous increase in herbicide-resistant weeds. The EU Green Deal aims to reduce the use and risk of chemical pesticides by 50% by 2030, although it is still undefined whether a reduction in herbicide use could be feasible in different farming systems and situations. This review aims to provide a holistic framework for sustainable crop and weed management to reduce the herbicide input and ensure crop protection. Current and future dilemmas and policies that need to be handled to ensure the agroecological transition of the EU’s agricultural systems are also discussed. The integration of non-chemical alternatives for integrated weed management is feasible and includes novel cultivation techniques (e.g., intercropping, false seedbed, reduced tillage, crop rotation and diversification, adjustments on sowing densities and dates), non-chemical tools (e.g., flaming, seed coating, beneficial microorganisms, mechanical weeding, biocontrol agents and natural herbicides), competitive plant material (hybrids and cultivars, cover crops, service crops), and new technologies and precision agriculture tools (e.g., Decision Support Systems, robots, remote sensing, UAVs, omics and nanotechnology). A special focus should be appointed to agroecology and biodiversity conservation.

Sustainable Transitions Narratives: An Analysis of the Literature through Topic Modelling

A large and fast-growing field of studies, known as sustainability transitions, emerged at the end of the 1990s, relying on a number of theoretical approaches. Transition management, strategic niche management, sociotechnical transition and technological innovation systems are among the most popular frameworks used to theorize sustainability transitions, although other approaches have been used as well. Our research analyses a specific corpus of text composed of approximately 3500 abstracts of papers collected in the Scopus database related to the term sustainability transition with the help of machine learning techniques. We explore related subfields of this literature, both related to theoretical framework or sectoral focus and their evolution across years and publication outlets, depicting different sustainability narratives.
