Exploring use of the ICF in health education

Abstract

To advance use of the ICF in education, it is important to incorporate the measurement of both knowledge acquisition and behavior change related to ICF-based programs. Ultimately, widespread implementation of the ICF represents not only a substantial opportunity but also poses a significant challenge.

Enhancing interprofessional education and practice: Development and implementation of a new graduate-level course using the international classification of functioning, disability, and health

“…A highly valued aspect of this course is the interprofessional approach to learning through a combination of peer and instructor support on application of the ICF. Consistent with current literature, adopting a biopsychosocial view on health offered by the ICF encouraged students to consider a holistic outlook when working with patients in practice by addressing their preferences, needs, and concerns according to the five domains outlined in the ICF (Bornbaum et al, 2015;Leonardi & Martinuzzi, 2009;Nguyen & Gorter, 2014).
