Expression and significance of TLR4 and HIF-1α in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Abstract: TLR4, NF-kappaB p65 and HIF-1alpha are overexpressed in pancreatic adenocarcinoma, TLR4 may be partly involved in up-regulating HIF-1alpha, and both synergestically promote development of pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

“…In solid tumors, hypoxia is a common phenomenon, and it is associated with poor prognosis regardless of therapy strategy (Birner et al, 2000;Bachtiary et al, 2003), suggesting that it might be an important therapeutic target. DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.7314/APJCP.2013.14.6.3613 Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1α and Lysyl Oxidase in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer As previously published, HIF-1α is overexpressed in many human malignancies and their metastases, compared with their paired normal tissues (Zhong et al, 1999;Zhang et al, 2010). However, association of HIF-1α with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis is inconsistent.…”

“…In ovarian tumors, high HIF-1α expression was correlated with grade of the tumors. However, in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, no association was observed between grade and HIF-1α expression (20,23). Although endometrium cancer is the most common female genital tract cancer, the majority are diagnosed at an early stage and they are associated with a favorable prognosis.…”
