Abstract:Kinesin family member17 (KIF17), a homologous dimer of the kinesin-2 protein family, has important microtubule-dependent and -independent roles in spermiogenesis. Little is known about KIF17 in the mollusk, Phascolosoma esculenta, a newly developed mariculture species in China. Here, we cloned the open reading frame of Pe-kif17 and its related gene, Pe-act, and performed bioinformatics analysis on both. Pe-KIF17 and Pe-ACT are structurally conserved, indicating that they may be functionally conserved. The expr… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
