Expression of DJ-1 in Endometrial Cancer

Abstract: High DJ-1 expression seems to be negatively correlated with apoptosis. Meanwhile, it may be part of the mechanisms for the development, invasion, and metastasis in endometrial cancer.

“…The expression of PARK7 is also upregulated in patients with endometrial cancer (EC), and its expression is significantly associated with the pathological progression of EC, including lymph node metastasis, invasion, and differentiation [60][61][62]. Proteomic analysis revealed that the levels of PARK7 are increased in several types of cancer, and O-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc)-modified PARK7 is involved in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC) and human scirrhous-type gastric carcinoma (GC) [63][64][65][66].…”

“…Recently, Shu K [8] showed that DJ-1 is an oncogene with abnormally high expression in EC and is closely associated with lymph node metastasis, the degree of differentiation and the invasion depth of EC. Notably, silencing DJ-1 expression by RNAi in EC inhibited cell viability and promoted cell apoptosis.…”

“…The DJ-1 protein participates in various cellular processes in the form of dimers, such as gene transcription regulation, anti-oxidative stress, inhibition of apoptosis, molecular chaperone, and promoting cell proliferation [4][5][6][7]. According to a recent study [8], the expression of DJ-1 protein in EC, which is markedly higher than in normal endometrial tissue, is related to the degree of differentiation, invasion depth, and lymph node metastasis of EC. In addition, silencing DJ-1 expression by RNAi in EC cells could clearly promote cell apoptosis and inhibit cell proliferation.…”

“…Recently, Shu et al reported that DJ-1 is abnormally expressed in an endometrial cancer sample and is closely associated with the degree of differentiation, metastasis, and invasion [63]. Silencing of DJ-1 in Ishikawa cells causes cell viability inhibition and promotes apoptosis.…”
