Expression of miR-590 in lung cancer and its correlation with prognosis

Abstract: The study aim was to evaluate the association of the expression of serum microribonucleic acid-590 (miR-590) with the risk of lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), clinicopathological staging and prognosis. A total of 237 patients with LUSC and 100 healthy volunteers (control group) were included in the study. Total RNA was extracted from the peripheral blood serum of the subjects, and the expression level of miR-590 was detected by reverse transcription real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The bas… Show more

“…27,28 Modern advanced methods like surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy have been applied to treat LUSC. 28,29 Nevertheless, LUSC patients still present a dismal prognosis with a low overall 5-year survival rate due to tumor metastasis and recurrence. 30,31 Hence, further exploration of carcinogenesis is essential to the identification of potentially diagnostic or therapeutic targets.…”

“…MiR-590 is a type of miRNA that commonly exhibits abnormal expression in various tumors. Ma et al found that this miRNA is downregulated in non-small-cell LC (NSCLC) and closely related to patient prognosis [ 86 ]. Overexpression of miR-590 can inhibit the proliferation and invasion of NSCLC cells by targeting GAB1 [ 87 ].…”
