Abstract:Background. One of the typical neurochemical pathogenetic mechanisms causing the dysfunction of retinal neurons in diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a deficiency of GABA-ergic mediation. To some extent, this justifies the prospect of using GABA receptor modulators, including benzodiazepines.
