Expression of stress‐induced phosphoprotein1 (STIP1) is associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis in epithelial ovarian cancer

Abstract: Stress-induced phosphoprotein1 (STIP1) is a candidate biomarker in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). In this study, we investigated in detail the expression of STIP1, as well as its functions, in EOC. STIP1 expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and the results were compared with clinicopathologic factors, including survival data. The effects of STIP1 gene silencing via small interfering RNA (siRNA) were examined in EOC cells and a xenograft model. The expression of STIP1 protein in EOC was signi… Show more

“…Patients with higher or positive HOP expression showed a worse prognosis and advanced tumor progression in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma [29], ovarian cancer [30], HCC [25], and epithelial ovarian cancer [31]. In our study, high HOP protein expression in GC tumors was associated with advanced Bormman classification, differentiated degree, T staging, N staging, M staging, and TNM staging ( Table 1).…”

“…For example, in pancreatic cancer, knockdown of HOP in pancreatic cancer cells decreased cell invasion via downregulation of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) [32]. Cho et al [31]. demonstrated that downregulated HOP in epithelial ovarian cancer cells showed strong inhibition of tumor growth and modulation of ID3 and Smad1/Smad5 expression.…”

“…Increased STIP1 expression in various solid epithelial tumours has been described, including ovarian carcinoma24 and papillary thyroid carcinoma 25. In our study, the expression of STIP1 was significantly higher in ICC than in DRs, whereas the difference to the BDA group was not significant.…”

“…In an autoimmune myocarditis-induced chronic heart failure rat model HSP-90β was suggested to play a protective role (Sanzen et al 2010). Increased levels of stress-induced phosphoprotein-1 have been associated with cancer (Cho et al 2014). …”
