Expression of the human homolog of discs, large homolog 1 (Drosophila) in normal epithelium, nodule, papilloma and invasive squamous cell carcinoma of larynx

Abstract: Background and aim: The discs large 1 of Drosophila (DLG1) is a cell junction‐localized protein that is required for the maintenance of cyto‐architectural stability and alteration of DLG1 may be related to development of epithelial neoplasm. Methods: To determine DLG1 expression in human papillomavirus‐related carcinogenesis, DLG1 expression in normal larynx (NL), laryngeal nodule (LN), laryngeal papilloma (LP), and invasive squamous cell carcinoma of larynx (SQCC) was investigated using immunohistochemistry. … Show more

“…DLG1 expression was also analyzed in lung, larynx, breast and, more recently, in hepatocellular cancers. In all cases, a clear downregulation of its levels was found in late stages of malignancy (Fuja et al, 2004;Byeon et al, 2011;Szymanowska-Narloch et al, 2013;Wu et al, 2016). Moreover, in some of these reports, DLG1 upregulation and loss from cell borders were also observed, as well as mislocalization in intermediate lesions.…”

“…Piel et al, 2016). Desequilíbrio de HW no grupo de controles foi também observado em estudos prévios com outros SNPs e, ainda assim, predisposições genéticas a determinadas doenças puderam ser identificadas (Mohamad Shariati et al,2011; Sayad et al, Thiery, 2002 Byeon et al (2011). observaram que a baixa expressão da proteína DLG1 foi relacionada com CCE de laringe invasivo.…”
