“…We found high expression of pRb2/p130 in proliferative endometrium and in hyperplasia without atypia and downregulation in secretory endometrium, atypical hyperplasia and carcinoma (Susini et al, 2001), suggesting that Rb2 expression might be estrogen-regulated.…”

“…The likelihood that these alterations of p130 and p107 are causally linked to lymphomagenesis is supported by the following: Both p130 and p107, like Rb, negatively regulate cell cycle progression (Claudio et al, 1994;Zhu et al, 1995). For p130, high expression levels in various solid tumor samples correlated with more di erentiated tumors and better prognosis of the patients (Baldi et al, 1996(Baldi et al, , 1997Susini et al, 1998Susini et al, , 2001Tanaka et al, 1999Tanaka et al, , 2001Massaro-Giordano et al, 1999;Zamparelli et al, 2001). Even though mice with targeted disruption of either p130 (LeCouter et al, 1998) or p107 (Lee et al, 1996 are not predisposed to cancer, chimeric mice de®cient for Rb and p107 (Rb 7/7 /p107 7/7 ) display a high frequency of retinoblastomas (Robanus- Maandag et al, 1998), as compared to chimeric Rb 7/7 mice (Maandag et al, 1994;Williams et al, 1994).…”

“…However, until now, little is known about the correlation between inactivation of Rb2/p130 and tumor development. It has been observed that low levels of Rb2/p130 expression correlate with high malignancy in primary tumors (Susini et al, 2001;Li et al, 2004), but only some cases of mutations or promoter methylations of Rb2/p130 have been published (Cinti et al, 2005;Tosi et al, 2005). Unlike direct genetic or epigenetic inactivation, functional inactivation of signaling pathways involving Rb2/p130 occurs at high frequency in tumor development.…”
