Expression profile, transcriptional and post‐transcriptional regulation of genes involved in hydrogen sulphide metabolism connecting the balance between development and stress adaptation in plants: a data‐mining bioinformatics approach

Abstract: Recent research focused on novel aspects of sulphur and sulphur-containing molecules in fundamental plant processes has highlighted the importance of these compounds. Currently, the focus has shifted to the efficacy of hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S) as signalling compounds that regulate different development and stress mitigation in plants.• Accordingly, we used an in silico approach to study the differential expression patterns of H 2 S metabolic genes at different growth/development stages and their tissue-specif… Show more

“…This expression leads to biotic and abiotic stresses ( Kurepa et al., 2009 ). The presence of light-responsive elements indicates that they are required for light-dependent transcriptional regulation ( Hiratsuka and Chua, 1997 ; Mondal et al., 2022 ). Similarly, the presence of endosperm elements is expressed during developmental stages.…”

“…The most straightforward application of co-expression network analysis is the study of metabolic pathways and their regulation [104][105][106][107], including plant stress responses [108][109][110] and, more importantly, the identification of potential candidates for the biotechnological improvement of crops [51]. This is of special relevance, as it makes it possible to directly transfer all knowledge gained in model species over the years to species of agronomic interest, such as soybean [108].…”

“…This special issue helps to elucidate the interactions of H 2 S with other signalling molecules and phytohormones in plants under different environmental stresses. Mondal et al (2022) explored the differential expression levels of H 2 S metabolic genes at different growth/development stages and their tissuespecific expression patterns under environmental stress. Analysis of gene expression reveals that H 2 S biosynthesis is triggered by developmental and stress stimuli.…”
