Extended Boost Quasi-Z-Source Inverters: Possibilities and Challenges

Abstract: In this paper four new extended boost qZSIs with continuous input current were presented, analyzed and compared. Moreover, some problematic issues of these converters were pointed out and discussed. Theoretical background was verified by the simulations and experiments. Ill. 14, bibl. 9, tabl. 1 (in English; abstracts in English and Lithuanian).

“…According to Fig.4(a) and Fig.4(b), the dc link voltage and the output line-to-line voltage of the switched inductor ZSI in non-shoot-through state are about 148.5V and 117V, respectively, which agrees with the theoretical values according to Eqs. (18) and (20). The boost factor in this state is 1.42 which agrees with Eq.…”

“…In recent years, new topologies have been proposed for these kinds of inverters aiming to increase the boost factor by reducing the switching cycle ratio, reducing voltage stress, and increasing the efficiency of the inverter [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] . The Z-source inverters have some disadvantages such as high capacitor voltage stress.…”

“…Typically, the diode of the qZS network is a keynote in efficiency considerations [9]- [11]. It is especially important in medium and high voltage applications where Schottky diodes cannot be used.…”
