Abstract:A previously developed unsteady embedded Newtonian theory has been extended to be able to predict the hypersonic unsteady aerodynamics of axisymmetric bodies of general shape with the accuracy needed for preliminary design. The static aerodynamics determined by a three-dimensional finite difference method are used together with unsteady embedded Newtonian flow concepts to provide the vehicle dynamics without significantly adding computational time to the static computer program.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
