Extension of unsteady embedded Newtonian theory

Abstract: A previously developed unsteady embedded Newtonian theory has been extended to be able to predict the hypersonic unsteady aerodynamics of axisymmetric bodies of general shape with the accuracy needed for preliminary design. The static aerodynamics determined by a three-dimensional finite difference method are used together with unsteady embedded Newtonian flow concepts to provide the vehicle dynamics without significantly adding computational time to the static computer program.
