Extensive Temporomandibular Joint Herniation Into the External Auditory Canal

Abstract: Spontaneous herniation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) into the external auditory canal (EAC) is a rare occurrence. Typically, TMJ herniations are small and involve a focal defect in the EAC. In this report, we present an unusual case of extensive TMJ herniation measuring 17 mm, originating from a bony defect in the EAC.
