Extracting trace amount of terbinafine hydrochloride in biological fluids and wastewater samples using solid‐phase‐extraction based on magnetic nanoparticles followed by HPLC‐UV analysis

Abstract: In this paper, the application of sodium dodecylsulfate-coated Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles as an adsorbent was evaluated for the extraction and preconcentration of trace amounts of terbinafine hydrochloride in biological fluids before its determination by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection. Effects of various parameters on the extraction efficiency such as pH of solution, amount of sodium dodecylsulfate surfactant, extraction time, and desorption conditions were studied and optimized.… Show more

“…The maximum removal of TRB HCl was achieved at 20 and 100 ppm concentrations of TRB HCl by CS and PUF, respectively. In a previous study on removing TRB HCl using sodium dodecylsulfate-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles 60 , the calibration curve was linear within the range of 0.0025 to 0.5 ppm.…”

“…Moreover, in this study, the potential of DDAB in NP functionalization is exploited to develop a novel Fe 3 O 4 -based microsampling protocol. This marks the first documentation of such a procedure, as the application of surfactants has strictly been limited to single-chain structures, mainly cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), in previous works [15,[20][21][22].…”
