Extraction studies of uranyl ion UO 2 2+ by dihexyl-N, N-diethyl carbamoyl methyl phosphonate (DHDECMP)

Abstract: The extraction of U(~2 + from nitrate solution has been carried out using DHDECMP. Different parameters affecting the distribution coefficient of UO 2+ have been determined. The extraction of UO 2+ was found to have second order dependency on both extractant and H § concentrations. Addition of some bases as TBP and TOPO to the phosphonate extractant increased the distribution ofU(~2 + to a great extent. LogD for UO 2+ with respect to both synergistic bases was found to be a first order dependent. The thermodyn… Show more

“…In the past, depending on the nature of the feed phase, several extractants were tested for the conventional extraction of uranium from aqueous solutions, mainly including tri-n-octylamine (TOA), 38 dihexyl-N,N-diethyl carbamoyl methyl phosphonate (DHDECMP), 42 di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA), 43 N-benzoyl-N-phenylhydroxyl amine (PC-88A), TOPO, and TBP. 44 In the present work, Alamine 336 was used as the extractant because it has been used for liquid-liquid extraction processes and/or the resins used for industrial uranium extraction are of the strong basic anion-exchange type.…”

“…The most common extractants used are organophosphorous compounds as tri-butyl phosphate (TBP) [8], di (2-ethyl hexyl) phosphoric acid (DEHPA) [9][10][11][12], bifunction carbamoylmethyl phosphine oxide [13] and organophosphonate [14]. Also, some extractants as tri-octyl amine [15], quaternary ammonium salts [16] and hydroxy quinoline [17] have rarely been used.…”

“…carboxylic acid [4][5][6][7][8], carboxylic acid-amide [9,10], ester [11], hydroxamate [12] or semicarbazone functions [13]. Phosphoryl groups have also been proved to be suitable for or acid organo-phosphorus extractants [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. A recent work of Taran et al reported that bisphosphonates were powerful uranyl ligands [22].…”
