Extraction with Oscillating Droplets in a Perforated-Plate Column

Abstract: This paper presents the first known data on extraction with oscillating droplets in a perforated-plate column. The capacity coefficient increases with flow rate of either phase and with increasing number of plates (from 3 to 7) in a fixed column height. Comparison is made between the number of plates actually used to achieve a given extraction and those predicted by the provisional design procedure of Skelland and Conger. The results are considered to be gratifying.
