“…SARS affected Asian stock market integration ( Chen et al., 2018 ) and increased hygienic measures in a limited fashion, but the COVID-19 pandemic seems to demand stricter measures ( Kostoff, 2011 ). Information and communication technologies (ICTs) will play a crucial role in fighting COVID-19 ( Gaspar et al., 2019 ).…”

“…E‐learning—especially the mobile version due to the technological trend—looks to be the sole viable approach. Despite the recognized technology role in supporting ordinary people in ordinary conditions (Yan, 2020), it remains unclear if technology is able to respond to their needs in extreme circumstances (Gaspar et al, 2019). In this context, this study reports findings on the subsequent research questions:RQ1 Is the existing degree of m‐learning adoption in students before the lockdown caused by the COVID‐19 outbreak at a level that supports the online learning shift in higher education? RQ2 Does hedonic motivation successfully play the mediator role in the UTAUT framework, by improving the research model performance?…”

“…To seize this opportunity, in 2021–2020, our journal will enthusiastically welcome behavior studies of using emerging technologies to deal with COVID‐19 and various extreme events. The possible manuscripts could concern case studies (e.g., Bao, this issue), literature review (e.g., Gaspar, Yan, & Domingos, 2019), empirical studies (e.g., Pandey et al, 2020), theoretical (see Human Behavior and Emerging Technologies's [HBET] call for papers on a special issue on theoretical studies), and methodological (see HBET's call for papers on a special issue on methodological studies). We need to study what kinds of people (e.g., elder and young patients) have used emerging technologies to fight against the pandemic, what specific emerging technologies (e.g., social video games and Zoom) have been used, how new human‐technology interactions (e.g., binge screen viewing and large‐scale distance learning) have been taking place, and why various positive and negative behavioral impacts (e.g., the Cabin Fever effect and the digital vision syndrome) has been generated.…”
