Extrinsic contribution to the non-linearity in a PZT disc

Abstract: Non-linear increases in elastic, piezoelectric (direct and reverse) and dielectric coefficients have been measured under a high electrical field or under high mechanical stress. The permittivity and reverse piezoelectric coefficient can be measured by applying a high voltage at a low frequency, while the elastic compliance and direct piezoelectric coefficient can be measured at the first radial resonance frequency in order to apply a high stress. The non-linear behaviour has been analysed at the radial resonan… Show more

“…Las pérdidas dieléctricas ε'' son también proporcionales a E 0 y por lo tanto también al incremento de la constante dieléctrica ∆ε': [3] donde el factor 4/3π proviene de la aplicación de la Ec. “…The plot of d 31 versus s E 11 , Fig. 7, enables us to see the linear as well as the non-linear behaviour [4]: The extrinsic value is measured from the local slope e 31ext = ∆d 31 / ∆s E 11 , by the non-linear measurements.…”

“…The type and the quantity of these impurities help to stop the domain growth. All these effects imply not only high coefficients, but also dielectric, elastic and piezoelectric nonlinear behaviours [1][2][3][4]. Sometimes these effects are not wanted, for example when the losses increase in high power devices.…”
