Fabricating self-assembled SAPO-5 with tailored mesoporosity and acidity using a single template

Abstract: SAPO-5 zeolite with a bimodal pore system was hydrothermally synthesized using di-n-butylamine as single template. The structural and catalytic properties of the hierarchical SAPO-5 were extensively characterized and compared to those of conventional SAPO-5 using triethylamine as template.

“…The pyridine‐IR spectra of the samples are shown in Figure . Typical IR bands at ∼1449 cm −1 and ∼1546 cm −1 in the spectra correspond to the characteristic bands of pyridine molecules chemisorbed on Lewis (L) and Brønsted (B) acid sites, respectively . The IR bands at 1489 cm −1 and 1491 cm −1 are ascribed to pyridine adsorption on both B and L acids sites .…”

“…The results indicate that the introduction of ILs decreased the total and strong acid amounts of E‐SAPO‐5. Strong acid sites are generally caused by Si incorporation in the tetrahedral positions of the AlPO 4 framework . As demonstrated by the 29 Si NMR, the E‐SAPO‐5 has a significantly reduced amount of isolated Si‐(OAl) 4 as compared to the SAPO‐5.…”
