Fabrication and Characteristics of Elliptical-Holes and near Elliptical Core Hexangular Lattice Photonic Crystal Fibers Based on Polymer

Abstract: The polarization properties of a new structure of high birefringence polarization maintaining photonic crystal fibers were explored, which were consisted of elliptical-holes and near elliptical core triangle lattice of hexangular structure based on polymer. The optical birefringence and the first order polarization mode dispersion were studied based on a full-vector localized basis function method. The numerical results show that the polarization properties are strongly dependent on structural parameters of th… Show more

“…The first practical realization of PCFs with elliptical air holes was conducted in 2004 by Issa et al [53]. Liu et al [54] explored the experimental characterization of PCFs with elliptical air holes where methyl methacrylate (MMA) was employed for the fabrication. Using the extrusion method, Ruan et al [55] and Zhang et al [56] fabricated PCFs consisting of different sizes and shapes, including with elliptical geometry.…”

“…Moreover, the previously published articles[34] [35] [36] reported that the elliptical air hole patterns can be fabricated using the existing fabrication technology. In addition, Liu et al[37] used the methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer polymerization method to fabricate elliptical air holes. Moreover, jiang et al[30] recently used 3D printed dies and got improvement of fiber drawing over "stack and draw"and extruded preforms.…”
