Fabrication, microstructure, and optical properties of Tm:Y3ScAl4O12 laser ceramics

Abstract: Transparent 4 at.% Tm:Y3ScAl4O12 (Tm:YSAG) laser ceramics were fabricated by solid‐state reaction combined with vacuum sintering method. The 4 at.% Tm:YSAG ceramic sample sintered at 1800°C for 30 hours possesses homogenous microstructure and excellent optical properties, showing a transmittance of 79.3% at 2000 nm. The absorption and emission spectra of the Tm:YSAG ceramics are studied and compared with those of 4 at.% Tm:Y3Al5O12 ceramics. The introduction of Sc3+ greatly affects the energy levels of the Tm3… Show more

“…Было проведено сравнение полученных результатов с генерационными характеристиками аналогичных керамик (табл. 3) [33][34][35][36]. Достигнутые в настоящей работе величины дифференциального КПД и КПД генерации были сопоставимыми с литературными данными, при этом максимальный коэффициент пропускания выходного зеркала был меньше, чем в упомянутых работах.…”

“…Some studies have shown that the introduction of Sc 3+ will lead to the increase of the disorder of the matrix structure, which is conducive to the broadening of the emission spectrum of rare earth ions doped in the matrix. [18][19][20][21][22] In this paper, YSAG:Ce 3+ and YAG:Ce 3+ phosphors were successfully synthesised by high-temperature solid-phase method and their luminescent properties were investigated. Compare with the emission spectrum of YAG:Ce 3+ , the emission spectrum of YSAG:Ce 3+ is blue-shifted by 10 nm.…”

“…Thanks to many efforts made to improve the manufacturing techniques, in recent years Tm 3+ -doped mixed-sesquioxide ceramics such as (Lu,Y) 2 O 3 [ 51 , 52 ], (Sc,Y) 2 O 3 [ 53 ], and (Lu,Sc) 2 O 3 [ 54 , 55 , 56 ], as well as garnets (i.e., YSAG [ 57 , 58 ]), have been fabricated and their potentiality tested, finding excellent results. For instance, pulses as short as 54 fs were generated in Tm:(Lu 2/3 Sc 1/3 ) 2 O 3 [ 52 ], and a CW tuning range of 200 nm was measured in Tm:LuYO 3 [ 59 ].…”
