Fabrication of 4-aminophenol sensor based on hydrothermally prepared ZnO/Yb2O3nanosheets

Abstract: A facile hydrothermal process was used to prepare nanostructures of ZnO/Yb2O3in alkaline medium, which were applied for efficient chemical sensor development. The sensor fabricated with ZnO/Yb2O3nanostructures may be a promising sensitive chemical sensor for the effective detection of environmental effluents.

“…As a result, the electron transfer rate as well as the conductivity of the working electrode is increased due to the use of Naon, as described in previous reports. [68][69][70][71][72] During the electrochemical detection of 3-CP in PBS, the 3-CP molecules are adsorbed on the surface of the NPs of the modied GCE and by the inuence of the applied potential, they are oxidized to CO 2 , H + , and free electrons. The generated free electrons trigger the high conductivity of the sensing buffer phase and amplied I-V responses are recorded in the Keithley electrometer.…”

“…A similar metal hydroxide formation has been described by previous authors. [25][26][27] Aer that, the nano-crystals of metal hydroxides were subjected to calcination in a muffle furnace at a 500 C temperature for 6 h. In this calcination process, metal hydroxides were oxidized in the presence of atmospheric oxygen and got converted to their oxide form with a higher oxidation number. The corresponding oxidation reaction (eqn (v)) in the muffle furnace is shown below.…”

“…This similar tendency of electrochemical responses has been reported previously to measure various toxins. [43][44][45][46] The current data from Fig. 4(c) at an applied potential of +1.5 V have been collected and presented as current vs. concentration of choline in Fig.…”

“…The existing analytical methods such as fluorescence and Raman spectrophotometry [44][45][46] , photo-electrochemical methods [47][48][49][50] , chromatography 51,52 , chemi-luminescence [53][54][55] , and electrochemical methods 29,[56][57][58][59][60] are used widely to detect the chlorophenol in aqueous medium. Among the chlorophenol detection methods, the electrochemical method has better advantages and the electrochemical method based on current versus potential is becoming more popular to detect directly the toxic chemicals which are environmental unsafe and carcinogenic [61][62][63][64] .…”
