Fabrication of a wrinkled structure made of wearable polyacrylonitrile/polyurethane composite fibers with elastic sensing properties suitable for human movement detection

Abstract: Research in wearable sensors is guided by the need for bendable, comfortable, and deformable sensors. In this study, an elastic electronic sensor is fabricated to monitor human movement. It adopts a centrifugal electrospinning technology, and the fibers form a wavy wrinkled structure by itself. This structure gives the sensor good resistance response under high strength deformation. After stretching to 180% of the original length, the numerical value of resistance is increased by 2000%. The sensor generates di… Show more

“…When the fabric is deformed by an external force, the internal stress accumulated in the elastic polymer lm will prompt the fabric to bounce back quickly and return to the initial shape of the fabric after the withdrawal of external force. The elastic polymer materials incude polyurethane and modi ed polyurethane (Bertocchi et al 2019;Lu et al 2020), polyacrylate (Cheng et al 2020), organic Silicon(Gi and Sangmook 2017; Song et al 2019), etc. Among them, the silicone-based nishing agent can not only form a lm on the surface of the fabric to give the fabric elasticity, but also provide the fabric with a uffy and smooth feel style (Zhao and Zhang 2008).…”
