Fabrication of acrylic modified surface of polyamide 6/CaO electrospun nanofibrous membrane for effective dye removal

Abstract: P OLYAMIDE 6 nanofibrous membrane of low molecular weight were obtained with various concentration between 25 and 45% (wt/v) by electrospinning of the polymer solution. Polyamide 6 nanofibers containing calcium oxide nanoparticles (PA6/CaO) were successfully obtained with various CaO concentration (0.2-1.0 % wt/wt). The structure of the electrospun nanofiber was studied with the aid of scanning electron microscopy that indicated that smooth and continuous electrospun nanofibers were obtained at optimum conditi… Show more

“…PA6 and PA6/CaO electrospun nanofibrous membranes were successfully prepared by electrospinning polymer solution with PA6 concentration of 30% (wt/v) and CaO concentration of 1% (wt/wt). Previously, it was revealed that at those concentrations, smooth and continuous nanofibers form, resulting in a slight increase in nanofiber diameters [24].…”

“…Polyamide (Nylon) is a cheap polymer, which consists of amide groups separated by methylene sequences that can be electrospun with good mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties . To enhance the biodegradability of polyamide, it was blended with chitosan that has antibacterial and antiviral properties besides its biodegradability, biocompatibility, and nontoxicity. Moreover, nanoparticles (NPs) were shown to enhance the properties of polymeric materials due to their high surface area-to-volume ratio.…”
