“…The addition of 0.1-0.5 wt % Mg to the Zn-Al system decreased the corrosion rate with increasing Mg content, after 720 h of immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution. The cytotoxicity results demonstrated acceptable biocompatibility of the Zn-0.5Al-0.5Mg alloy, with superior antibacterial activity relative to the other alloys [51].…”

“…Again, using Zn-Mg as a base for the ternary alloy makes sense, since this binary combination is the most studied owing to its expected good biocompatibility. Reports on Mg additions to binary alloys of Zn-Cu [117] and Zn-Al [118] are also available.…”

“…In this experiment, all equipment and materials were sterilized by autoclaving at 121°C for 20 min. The bacterial strains, including 20 mL nutrient broth, 0.23 g of antibacterial samples, and 2 mL bacterial suspension containing E. coli and S. aureus species, respectively, were cultured in gas bath thermostatic shaker with 150 rpm/min at 37.5°C and the absorbance of blank control bacterial strains was tested to 0.5 McFarland standard at 600 nm [37]. Then, 100 μL the above bacterial suspension was diluted into different times in a petri dish and cultured in gas bath thermostatic shaker at 37.5°C for 24 h. Finally, the images of antibacterial effect were analyzed by formula (3) [38][39][40].…”
