Fabrication of Chitosan-coated Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Bearing Rosuvastatin as a Drug Delivery System

Abstract: Aim: In this work, to improve the solubility and bioavailability of the rosuvastatin (RSV) drug, chitosan-coated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CS-MSNs) as drug delivery systems were fabricated. Methods: To do this, first MSNs with a maximum specific surface area were synthesized from sodium silicate as silica source and different molar ratios of cethyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and pluronics (P123, PEO20PPO17PEO20) as surfactants via the sol-gel process. Then, the synthesized MSNs were coated by C… Show more

“…CS (0.15% W / V )/was prepared in a 10% V /V acetic acid solution, and the pH was adjusted to 6.0 with 1 M NaOH. Then, 40 mL of CS/acetic acid solution with a pH of 6.0 was added to 0.35 g of solid tin dioxide and stirred at room temperature for 36 h. After the reaction, the product was centrifuged, washed twice with deionized water, and vacuum-dried at room temperature to obtain CS-HSn ( Ghahfarokhi et al, 2022 ).…”
