“…In addition to organic molecular ligands, some solid supports, such as amorphous silica, activated carbon, crystalline zeolites, , and MOFs can also be used as solid ligands to stabilize metal species and then act as starting materials, mesoporogens, or crystallization seeds for subsequent in situ fabrication of zeolite-confined metal catalysts. , Taking silica precursor as an example, metal clusters are first encapsulated within silica precursors or deposited on their surfaces. Consequently, these metal–silica composites are used as starting materials nourishing zeolite crystallization under hydrothermal conditions.…”

“…Peng et al 47 synthesized silicalite-1 zeolite-enveloped Pd-CeO 2 nanowire bifunctional catalysts for propane oxidation and demonstrated better catalytic activity and higher stability owing to the enhanced dispersion of Pd and Ce after encapsulation in zeolite. Sun et al 48 prepared subnanometric Pd NPs confined within β zeolite with high Pd dispersion and stability using zeolitic seeds with presynthesized [Pd 3 Cl-(PPh 2 ) 2 (PPh 3 ) 3 ] + particles, which endowed the catalysts with excellent catalytic activity and metal stability in the oxidation of toluene. In our previous work, 49 nanosheet ZSM-5-confined Pt catalysts were synthesized for catalytic oxidation of toluene.…”

“…Noble metal catalysts are already applied in practical industries nowadays due to their high catalytic activity, low operating temperature and recycling performance. 5–7 However, their high cost and strong tendency toward aggregation limit their application. Therefore, it is preferred to support noble metals on other substrates, which could avoid the aggregation of metal particles as well as enhance the catalytic performance.…”
