“…It has great potential to replace PAN in CNF production, but it requires long stabilization processes [65,169,170]. Lignin-based carbons are amorphous and impart better cycling stability, higher capacities then graphitic carbons and relatively low cyclability [169,170].…”

“…Lignin‐based mesoporous carbonized nanofibers exhibited a large reversible capacity of 384.4 mAh g −1 at 20.0 mAg −1 and maintained 177.7 mA h g −1 at 1.0 A g −1 after 400 cycles . Besides activated lignin/MnO 2 composite, lignin‐derived N‐containing carbon nanospheres, N and O‐containing carbon/poly(N‐ethylaniline) composites, low‐cost carbon nanofibers, binder‐free SiO x /C composite, and hybrid biopolymer electrodes containing lignin and PEDOT etc. also displayed remarkable lithium storage performance.…”

“…As the obtained lignin usually contains part of adverse ash and organic impurity, including polysaccharide and hemicellulose, papers about pyrolysis lignin directly as anode active material for LIBs have less been seen. Some studies have focused on the preparation of electrospun carbon nanofibers (ECNFs) from composites of lignin and other viscous polymers such as PAN [21,22] and PEO [23], in which way 3-D conductive networks are introduced. Although these ECNFs may exhibit good electrochemical performance after treatment of stabilization and carbonization, the synthesis process is too complex to realize the large-scale commercial production.…”
