Fabrication of Polylactic Acid-Modified Carbon Black Composites into Improvement of Levelness and Mechanical Properties of Spun-Dyeing Polylactic Acid Composites Membrane

Abstract: This work presents an approach for the fabrication of polylactic acid-modified carbon black composites (PLA-g-KH560/CB composites pigment), followed by preparing PLA composites membranes with excellent color and mechanical properties by a blending process. The resultant PLA-g-KH560/CB composites pigment was characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering. Upon characterization it was verified that PLA-g-KH560/CB composites were individually disperse… Show more

“…Crystallinity of PLA fiber without CB pigments was 7.67%, which were increased to 12.16 and 31.18% when original CB pigment and PLA‐ g ‐CB (I) pigment were added, respectively, into PLA fiber. The obviously improvement in crystallinity of black PLA fiber containing PLA‐ g ‐CB (I) pigment should be the combination of CB's complementary reinforcement and the excellent compatibility of PLA‐ g ‐CB (I) pigment with PLA matrix . The obviously improvement of crystallinity would be one of the important roles for the improvement of black PLA fiber in breaking strength …”

“…Notably, K/S value of black PLA fiber prepared by PLA ‐g ‐CB pigments was a trace lower than comparative samples containing original CB because of PLA shell around CB pigment . Meanwhile, the color difference ΔE of black PLA fiber prepared by PLA‐ g ‐CB pigments was much better than black PLA fiber containing original CB, revealed the PLA ‐g ‐CB pigments could be deposited on black PLA fiber more uniformly compared to original CB due to the excellent compatibility of PLA‐ g ‐CB pigments with PLA matrix …”
