Fabrication of copper‐niobium‐oxygen complexes as a photocathode for p‐type dye‐sensitized solar cell

Abstract: Summary Thin film of copper niobate ternary oxide with various compositions was fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique. Formation of a single phase of monoclinic CuNbO3, monoclinic CuNb3O8 (Cu[I]), and triclinic Cu3Nb2O8 (Cu[II]) thin films was confirmed from the X‐ray diffraction and selected area energy diffraction analysis. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and high‐resolution tunneling electron microscope show CuNbO3 and CuNb3O8 system that exhibits polyhedron and triangular structure, r… Show more

“…14 Narayanasamy successfully synthesized the C /2 m structure of CuNbO 3 by pulsed laser deposition technology, and applied it to dye-sensitized solar cells, achieving good photovoltaic performance. 15 First-principles calculations show that CuNbO 3 with C /2 m structure can absorb visible light, and the optical properties are closely related to the Cu-d, Nb-d, and O-p energy level transitions. 16,17 At the same time, Fukuda et al synthesized CuNbO 3 with an R 3 c structure, a polarized structural material with potential ferroelectric properties, although its light absorption properties have not been studied in detail.…”
