Abstract: 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) has received much attention as a bridgehead to connect biomass with furan ring chemicals. Its hydrogenation product, 2,5-dihydroxymethylfuran (DHMF), is one of the most important biomass-derived platform chemicals.
