“…For these comparisons, we discuss only the most significant reef-dwelling foraminiferal genera of the Upper Triassic limestones of Cyprus. These include Bispiranella, Cucurbita, Galeanella, Hydrania, Kaeveria, Miliolipora, Orthotrinacria, Palaeolituonella, Paraophthalmidium, and Spiriamphorella. A very similar association of foraminifera and lithofacies was first described from the northern Calcareous Alps (Dachstein-reef limestones) in Austria (e.g., Hohenegger and Lobitzer, 1971;Schäfer and Senowbari-Daryan, 1978;Piller, 1978;Dullo, 1980;Rüffer and Zamparelli, 1997). The association described by Senowbari-Daryan and Flügel (1996) from the reeflimestones of Gosaukamm (Austria) shows the closest similarity to that of Cyprus.…”

“…The occurrence of Abriolina mediterranea at Latemar is important for the correlation with other Tethydian reefs. Apart from the Anisian?-Ladinian reef facies from the Lagonegro area where it has firstly been described by Zaninetti et al (1992), the genus of Abriolina has so far only been found in the Northern Calcareous Alps (Rüffer and Zamparelli 1997), probably in Turkey (Middle Triassic) and Southern China (Zaninetti et al 1992).…”
