Facile and Low-Cost Preparation of Nb/Al Oxide Catalyst with High Performance for the Conversion of Kiwifruit Waste Residue to Levulinic Acid

Abstract: Abstract:The kiwifruit industry is booming worldwide. As a result, a great deal of kiwifruit waste residue (KWR) containing monosaccharides is produced and discarded. This material shows great potential for the production of platform chemicals. In this study, a series of Nb/Al oxide catalysts were synthesized via a facile and low-cost coprecipitation method, and their structures were characterized using: thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), XRD, FESEM, TEM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), NH3-TPD, N2 ad… Show more

“…By this way, not only the liquid phase but also the solid component, including the catalytic species, are efficiently and quickly heated, but also in this case the positive role of MW is due to simple thermal effects. Among the acid catalysts listed above, it is considerable to highlight the use of the heterogeneous super-acid catalyst named S 2 Table 5) [127]. Today, the kiwifruit industry is booming worldwide.…”

“…The production of LA from biomass and monosaccharide Chen et al63 reported an LA yield of 17 mol% from vegetable waste for only 5 min at 150°C by Amberlyst-36. Wang et al64 produced a 14.7 wt% LA yield from kiwifruit waste in 15 min at 190°C by using 20% Nb/Al oxide. The development of LA production from lignocellulose materials was promoted by the development of these new catalytic systems and technological conditions.…”
