Abstract:<p>As part of a program to find new sialidases and determine their enzymatic specificity and catalytic activity, a library of 4-methylumbelliferyl sialic acid glycosides derivatised at the C-5 position were prepared from <i>N</i>-acetylneuraminic acid.
