Facile fabrication of NiCo-LDH on activated rice husk carbon for high-performance all-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors

Abstract: NiCo-LDH@RHC electrode material was prepared by calcination and hydrothermal method from rice husk. The nanoflower structure provides more active sites, promotes ion diffusion, and therefore has excellent specific capacitance and cycling properties.

“…In recent years, multi-metal layered double hydroxides (LDH) have also attracted much more attention in the design of electrode materials for HSCs. Various successful achievements have been widely reported in the literature [ 171 , 172 , 173 , 174 , 175 , 176 ]. For example, Nagaraju et al [ 173 ] reported a facile and cost-effective process to obtain well-assembled porous Ni-Co LDH nanosheets on conductive textile substrates (Ni-Co LDH NSs/CTs) using a two-electrode system-based electrochemical deposition method.…”

“…20 Hu et al grew a layer of Ni−Co double hydroxides on the surface of a rice husk activated-carbon-coated Ni foam electrode; it delivered the specific capacity of 8542.5 mF cm −2 at 2 mA cm −2 current density. 21 Shaku et al activated marula nutshell waste using KOH and used it for supercapacitor applications. It exhibited the capacitance of 248 F g −1 and energy density of 28.4 Wh kg −1 in 2.5 M KNO 3 electrolyte solution.…”
