Facile fabrication of plate‐like Bi 3 O 4 Cl for visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride

Abstract: Novel visible (vis)-light-driven Bi 3 O 4 Cl plates were first prepared via a facile method. The structure, morphology, and photo absorption properties of as-prepared Bi 3 O 4 Cl were characterised by multiple physicochemical techniques. Tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl), a famous broad-spectrum antibiotic, was used to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared samples. Compared to the BiOCl and solid-state reaction synthesised Bi 3 O 4 Cl, the plate-like Bi 3 O 4 Cl exhibited highly improved vi… Show more

“…The mainstream methods for the degradation of TC including adsorption, Fenton oxidation, electrochemical oxidation and photocatalysis oxidation have been used for the degradation of antibiotics. [5][6][7][8] Overall, (chemical or physical) adsorption has been considered as one of the most effective and facile techniques for TC removal from water. 9 Up to now, various kinds of adsorbents, such as graphene oxide, natural zeolite and activated carbon have been developed for this purpose.…”

“…With the continuous development of society, people pay more and more attention to the ecological environment, in which the pollution of water resources is one of the issues of great concern, which makes the prevention and control of water resource pollution an inevitable trend of sustainable development. At present, there are many ways to treat organic pollutants in water, mainly including electrocatalysis technology, 1 ultrasonic degradation, 2 photocatalytic degradation, [3][4][5][6][7] etc. Photocatalytic degradation is a technology with practical use, which can be used to treat soluble organic pollutants in sewage.…”
