The effects of the textile industry on the environment are now a major global concern. Many dyestuffs are toxic, carcinogenic, and non-biodegradable, which are being used in large amounts in dyeing and printing processes. Electron beam radiation is a wastewater treatment technology that is more effective than the conventional methods used for treatment of dye wastewater. The current paper presents a review on the recent advances, applications, and efficiency of electron beam irradiation and its combination with other textile effluent decolorization techniques. The purpose of this study is to accurately characterize the textile effluent electron beam treatment, to reveal its main issues, and to offer suggestions for additional growth and research. The current work examines the generation of reactive species by electron beams and their interactions with dye molecules. The mechanisms of decolorization and degradation caused by electron beam radiation have been thoroughly studied. This study also highlights the use of electron beam irradiation for the preparation of different materials and their applications in dye removal from textile effluents. This study also focuses on the use of an integrated approach of electron beam irradiation in combination with other treatment techniques for the removal of dyes from textile effluents.
