This chapter attempts to briefly summarise the research carried out on the design, synthesis and practical, mostly catalytic, applications of phosphinoferrocene donors. Presented are selected basic concepts that illustrate milestones and major routes in the development of ferrocene‐based phosphines since the discovery of ferrocene, as well as recent trends demonstrating the vast applications of these compounds as ligands in coordination chemistry and, mainly, in numerous conventional and asymmetric transition‐metal‐mediated organic transformations.
