Facile Preparation of Ag-NP-Deposited HRGB-SERS Substrate for Detection of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Water

Abstract: In this study, a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate based on high-refractive-index reflective glass beads (HRGBs) was prepared by a facile method and successfully applied to the detection of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The HRGB-SERS substrate was prepared by depositing silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) onto the surface of HRGBs. The preparation procedure of the substrate was simplified by accelerating the hydrolysis of (3-Aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane (APTMS) and increasing the concent… Show more

“…Furthermore, these methods use large amounts of organic solvents, which are also toxic to the environment. The limitation of these methods led to the development of other instrumental techniques, such as SERS and fluorescence spectrophotometry, which are considered rapid, non-destructive, highly sensitive, and selective techniques for detecting PAHs in real samples [206,207].…”

“…Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology has the advantages of high sensitivity, fast detection speed, non-destructive detection and no sample pretreatment [16], and it is often used to identify harmful substances including organic dyes, pesticides and heavy metal ions [17][18][19]. SERS detection of Cr can be divided into the indirect approach and the direct approach [20][21][22][23][24].…”
