Facile synthesis of solution-processed MoS2nanosheets and their application in high-performance ultraviolet organic light-emitting diodes

Abstract: High-performance ultraviolet organic light-emitting diodes are assembled using liquid-phase exfoliated MoS2 and its composites, MoS2–UVO and MoS2+PEDOT:PSS.

“…On the other hand, device F1 has an impedance (Z) of ≈10 5 Ω and a phase angle (ϕ) of −60° at 1 V or less (Figure 5b), showing a high resistance state. [40][41][42][43] With the increase of voltage, Z decreases rapidly and the corresponding ϕ shifts to 0°, indicating a transition process from an insulating state to a semiconductor state. [44,45] The state transition voltage of device F1 is less than 4 V, revealing a good electrical performance.…”

“…TMDs can be also employed as HILs in OLEDs [39,41,[43][44][45]. Kim reported OLEDs with a structure of ITO/TMDs/NPB/Alq 3 :C545T/BCP/Alq 3 /LiF/Al, in which MoS 2 , WS 2 and TaS 2 nanosheets were used as HILs, as shown in Figure 3e [43].…”

“…[43] Nonetheless, only few works implement this scheme on LEDs, but the low concentration of exfoliated MoS2 used (~ 0.5 mg mL -1 ) did not allow to have a fair comparison with the reference device and/or UV-ozone irradiation treatment was still needed. [20,44,45 ] In this work we investigate the use of a nanocomposite aqueous ink, based on the mixture of PEDOT:PSS and highly concentrated MoS2 nanosheets, as HTL in NPL-LEDs. The aim of our study is to understand whether the addition of MoS2 to PEDOT:PSS can improve the drawbacks of this interface layer and have positive impact on the performance of corresponding device.…”
