“…A meta‐analysis (Song et al ) suggests that the majority of studies found positive effects of integration on performance of the whole clone. Another study showed that nutrient addition to a subset of the ramets increased the benefits of clonal integration in heterogeneous environments (Lin et al ). Contrary to these two previous studies, our results showed that clonal integration can facilitate the invasion of M. micrantha into plant communities, but it cannot increase growth of the whole clonal system, regardless of the soil nutrient conditions.…”
