“…Number of ANC visits and decision regarding place of birth: The results of this study show lower than four ANC visits resulted in decreased utilisation of institutional birth services especially at primary health facilities as shown by a study in Ethiopia (22) and another study in rural Nepal where women who attended antenatal services were four times more likely to attend institutional delivery (12).A study conducted in Nepal regarding uptake of ANC showed how women's decision of uptake of the ANC services is influenced by husbands and mother-in-laws and less influenced by the women themselves (29). Another study conducted in rural Nepal also established that the decision for uptake of the institutional birth services was influenced more by family members or family members and women and not by women alone (11).…”

“…This study also showed that women educated to primary level and above were two times more likely to utilize institutional delivery than those are not able to read and write. The result was in line with studies in other areas [25,27,28,32,33]. This may be explained by educated women's access to information and awareness of pregnancy problems positively influences their behavior of institutional delivery.…”

“…In this study the magnitude of institutional services utilization was 60%. The finding of this study is higher than the institutional delivery services utilization of 18.3 in Dangla District of Amhara region [25], 20.91 in Ankasha Guagusa Woreda of Amhara region [26], 4% in Tigray Region [27], 28.6% in South West Shoa of Oromia [28], 14.5 in Oromia at regional level [14] and 15.4 at national level of Ethiopia [14]. The possible reason for the discrepancy could arise from the time difference between the current study and other studies which were done before two years of data generation.…”

“…This study showed that only 3.5% of the participants had not gone for the ANC check-ups which is similar to the study conducted by Dahal RK where 3.2 % mothers did not go for the ANC check-ups 10 . Another study conducted by Demilew YM showed that 33.1% of the women did not go to the ANC visits 15 . The difference might be due to the study area, physical distance and availability of transportation.…”
