Factors influencing new graduate registered nurses' transition to practice

Abstract: New graduate nurses lack confidence in skills and struggle adapting to role expectations. Ineffectual transition into practice is linked to turnover. The purpose of this project was to examine novice nurse transition to practice, programmatically evaluating barriers and strengths of a transition to practice program. Nursing partnerships can apply feedback and knowledge about nurses’ perceived competence and confidence in patient care, supporting and strengthening transition to practice programs.
