Factors Influencing Patients’ Attitudes to Exchange Electronic Health Information in Saudi Arabia: An Exploratory Study

These exchanges offer improved health care quality, reduced medical errors and health care costs, increase patient safety and organizational efficiency. “…It includes factors involved in this study that have an influence on ERMS adoption, notably in the O&G sector (Abdulkadhim et al , 2015; Mukred et al , 2019a). It also encompasses the actual compatibility of the system in terms of linking it with a new system of software, hardware or networks, and how they are successfully adapted to achieve ERMS best practice (Al-Khalifa et al , 2016; Ambira, 2016; Yusof and Chell, 2002). Thus, technological contexts can have a positive or negative influence on the management of records for accountability, depending on how they are used.…”

“…Hence, the technology dimension comprises a significant set of factors influencing system adoption, which has many associated advantages. Rapid advances in technology have led to major changes in the operations of organizations (Al-Khalifa et al , 2016; Komba, 2013). An ERMS is more likely to be accepted as a required technical and technology support for information management in the organization if it is implemented as a part of business continuity and as an independent system (An and Wang, 2010; Duranti, 2012; Sittig et al , 2014).…”

“…Regarding health care quality improvement, an increasing number of countries are adopting EHR, a tool that is expected to enable safe and high-performing data exchange among health policy-makers, providers, and patients ( 60 ). Patients are willing to share their PHI using EHR, especially with providers involved in their care, and to facilitate health information exchange between them ( 61 68 ). Nevertheless, selecting the PHI to share with EHR makes patients more comfortable and increases their willingness to adopt EHR ( 69 ).…”

“…Several variables, including the availability of technology [62], [63], cultural values [17], [58], the desire of individuals to share knowledge [58], and the availability of trustworthy and accurate information [64], [65], can either promote or inhibit knowledge sharing in Saudi Arabia. Many studies about factors that enable or hinder knowledge sharing in Saudi Arabia from different sectors have been reviewed; see Table III.…”
