FACTS Family for Voltage Sag Alleviation: Performance Study and Analysis

Abstract: Voltage sag is one of the most considerable problems in power distribution system. In this work the performance study of the FACTS family; i.e. the distributed compensator (D-STATCOM), dynamic voltage restorer (DVR), and pulse width modulation (PWM) switched auto-transformer, is carried out, with regard to the number of switching devices and the valid compensating capability in comparison to the generally known compensators.
